Do movies count as Anime? :P

Spirited Away is an epic film, I've only seen it once and that was in a place I couldn't pay too much attention to it :( but even then I could tell how good it was :D I'll have to track that baby down ;)

its quintessential Miyazaki. i like it a lot. i managed to catch it at an anime con back in 04? then it hit theaters in Orlando and i went on a date to see it. afterward i bought it once it came out on dvd. it has been a while since watching it but it might be worth another look now that i watched Studio Ghibli's newest film, the Secret World of Arrietty.

Are alot of Miyazaki's works of a similar vein? I'm not massively into anime but that doesn't mean I wouldn't check them out if I think they'll be good :D

i would say you should check out Arrietty when it comes out in the UK. if you liked Spirited Away it has a similar otherworldly feel even though it takes place inside of a house. also if you like action/comedy check out Miyazaki's take on Lupin III in Castle of Cagliostro.

I just watched how'ls moving castle and have to say it was a good watch and plan to see Arrietty. We should watch spirited away cuz that is one i have not seen fully just caught bits and pieces so i could go for a sit down of that sometime since you have it on dvd and i'm sure you own Mononoke and i wanted to show that to Amanda cuz it is purely amazing work.

I think it's hard to find a Miyazaki movie that isn't good.

Not all movies count as anime but Spirited Away is one of an anime movie. It is a magical tale based on Sintou beliefs about the struggles of regaining oneself. One Sintou belief is a concern with cleanliness, something Bou represents in his fear of germs, but what the Stink Spirit emphasizes even more through its pollution.
